Short summary | This project addresses the Call for proposals objectives “Accelerating the best use of technologies (DIGITAL-2023-DEPLOY-04),” focusing on supporting the National Centres for Safer Internet in the EU member states and the Associated members. North Macedonia currently lacks an established national Safer Internet Centre (SIC). Recognizing this void, the project is dedicated to laying down the foundational infrastructure required to introduce a comprehensive SIC. Through collaborative efforts, the aim is to enhance existing initiatives from both public and private sectors. The objective is to improve the services offered, facilitate easy access to age-suitable content, and heighten awareness. This will empower individuals to swiftly recognize online risks and understand the avenues for reporting. At the heart of this initiative is the desire to bolster national capabilities in offering guidance and support. The target audience extends to children, youth, parents, teachers, guardians, and other vital stakeholders. The project's core objective is to provide a safer digital experience for children, offering tools and knowledge to navigate digital technologies and services responsibly. Additionally, the Project is committed to providing robust support mechanisms for victims of cyberbullying, children with special or specific needs, including those from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds. |
Objectives | The main aim of MKSafeNet project is to strengthen the national capacities for provision of advice and support to children, youth, parents/carers, teachers and education, as well as other stakeholders, on issues related to children's use of digital technologies and services, as well as to strengthen support to victims of cyberbullying. The project scope is the establishment of national SIC in North Macedonia, comprised of Centre for raising awareness and a helpline. The project scope also covers needs assessment, and preparatory activities for establishing hotline services, establishment of a Youth panel for direct communication with children from different demographic groups and an Advisory Board made of representatives from all relevant national stakeholders. The support for Digital services act obligations, in line with updated Better Internet for Kids (BIK+) strategy is also planned within the project time limit. |
